چکیده

A thermodynamic model is presented to calculate the oxygen solubility in pure water (273–600 K, 0–200 bar) and natural brines containing Na, K, Ca, Mg, Cl , SO4 2 , over a wide range of temperature, pressure and ionic strength with or close to experimental accuracy. This model is based on an accurate equation of state to calculate vapor phase chemical potential and a specific particle interaction model for liquid phase chemical potential. With this approach, the model can not only reproduce the existing experimental data, but also extrapolate beyond the data range from simple aqueous salt system to complicated brine systems including seawater. Compared with previous models, this model covers much wider temperature and pressure space in variable composition brine systems. A program for this model can be downloaded from the website: http:// www.geochem-model.org. 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Prediction of Solubility of β-Carotene as a Component in a Multicomponent System in High-Pressure Carbon Dioxide

Solubility prediction of high molecular weight molecules in high-pressure solvents is an interesting field of research. Sometimes the solubility data are not available for several components due to lacking of valid equipments. Therefore, an accurate prediction technique can help the researchers. According to the literature, the simple Equations of State (EoSs) such as Soave-Redlich-Kwong (SRK),...

The prediction of methane solubility in natural waters to high ionic strength from 0 to 250°C and from 0 to 1600 bar

A model for the solubility of methane in brines (O-6 m) for temperatures from 0 to 250°C and for pressures from 0 to 1600 bar (or slightly above) is presented. The model is based on Pitzer phenomenology for the liquid phase and a highly accurate equation of state recently developed for the vapor phase. Comparison of model predictions with experimental data indicates that they are within experim...

Solubility of water in pyrope-rich garnet at high pressures and temperature

[1] The water solubility in pyrope-rich garnet was determined between pressures of 5–9 GPa and temperatures of 1373– 1473 K under silica activity and oxygen fugacity similar to those expected in the Earth’s upper mantle. We found that pyrope-rich garnet has substantial water solubility up to 0.1 wt% under these conditions. In addition, the water content in garnet varied as a function of chemica...

Prediction of boiling point and water solubility of crude oil hydrocarbons using sub-structural molecular fragments method

The quantitative structure–property relationship (QSPR) method is used to develop the correlation between structures of crude oil hydrocarbons (80 compounds) and their boiling point and water solubility. Sub-structural molecular fragments (SMF) calculated from structure alone were used to represent molecular structures. A subset of the calculated fragments selected using stepwise regression (fo...

Solubility of Naproxen in Polyethylene Glycol 200 + Water Mixtures at Various Temperatures

The solubility of naproxen in binary mixtures of polyethylene glycol 200 (PEG 200) + water at the temperature range from 298.0 K to 318.0 K were reported. The combinations of Jouyban-Acree model + van’t Hoff and Jouyban-Acree model + partial solubility parameters were used to predict the solubility of naproxen in PEG 200 + water mixtures at different temperatures. Combination of Jouyban-Acree m...
